Gardening

Michelle is not much of a garden person. Actually, if there's one person who's exactly the opposite of a garden person, that's Michelle. It's not that she hates plants. She just hates all the dirt and insects that go along with it. As she said, our house is the antithesis of her dream place.

We live in a bungalow that occupies probably about 1/2 of the 1000 square meter lot our parents own. That means we have about 500 square meters of garden space to deal with. It's sort of been my goal to make sure that the garden gets a face lift while Michelle is fixing up our new-ish house.

The main problem I am encountering is that as much as I want to update our garden, I have no clue how to go about it. I know that there's a much easier way to go about it such as hiring a landscape architect. I just don't want to do it (and I have no money to pay him/her anyway hehe). I want to create this gardening masterpiece that I can say I did by myself.

I decided to start by trying to clean up the garden. First task was to cut down stray branches from the Atis tree. I was surprised how easy it was to cut the branches off the Atis. The wood was soft so after a couple of hacks, the tree got its makeover. I had so much fun hacking at that tree that I started looking for more tree victims. I took one look at the Mango tree and I knew it was next. Feeling confident since I took out that Atis tree like it was nothing, I started to work on that Mango. One hack and I realized I was out of my league. The vibrations from that blade went from my hand, up my arm, and straight to my brain. After that one hack, I knew that I had to move on to other things. Next on my list was to buy some plants to surround the empty bathtub that I placed in the corner of the garden. I wanted the tub to serve as a centerpiece in the garden but alas, I was overruled by Michelle. She said it looked like Sadako would climb out of it. Next option was to place it in the corner of the garden then have some plants cover the sides of it.

I was off to Regalado to buy the plants when it started to rain. So that pretty much ended my gardening for the day. I want to continue working on it though until I complete my masterpiece. We'll see when that happens...
